A 2.3.4: Inquiry and Literacy

How may reading this article alter your thinking in the way you perceive the 3r’s of inquiry? Why or Why not?

Reading this article has changed the way I perceive the 3r’s. Before reading this, I perceived reading, writing, and research to be related but still very separate units. Now, I think they are all very important factors that connect to allow great learning and thinking to take place. The 3r’s are definitely interdependent of each other. When you read you decode words and use that information for a better understanding. By writing we are able to convey our thoughts and ideas to others with talking or meeting with them face to face. Research is where we obtain information by collecting new ideas and thoughts on a particular topic. In turn, we continue our thinking and ultimately our learning and the process continues. The fact that many students, including me, try to “look for the answer” for their research and you end up not seeing the forest for the trees. By using the 3r’s of inquiry together and allowing enough time for each reading, writing, and research (which all require thinking) will help your finished project be nicely constructed more informative. I feel I will be more aware of my reading, writing, and research by reading this article.
